  • If you’ve ever come into contact with a live current, you know how critical it is to ALWAYS test your electrical components and installations. As apprentices we learn the difference between AC, DC, and resistance (for continuity). In combination with this knowledge we also learn how to measure the right things in the right circumstances. In my experience, you have to choose the testing tools you are comfortable with and stick to it. I have used to different testers which I will describe in the following section. - Source: Internet

Hilti also shines because their large sale force can visit job sites, get tools there the same day and provide some of the industries best support - Source: Internet

  • Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch, Klein, Fluke, Knipex, and Stanley. Electricians have a seemingly endless stream of tool brands at their disposal. Since the late 1890s, when electricians first became recognized as a “real job” in the United States, the electrical trade has seen dramatic advances in technology.. and yes, tools. Most people, who have ever visited their local hardware store to buy tools would likely agree that selecting a brand can be a confusing task. - Source: Internet
  • Makita, in my opinion, is also a market leader in the manufacturing of power tools. While I use Milwaukee power tools professionally as an electrician, I use Makita power tools at home when working on private projects. To be completely honest, I started using Makita because of a fire sale that I took advantage of. The Makita DHP483 Drill was the first power tool I purchased from Makita. • With that out of the way, let’s get back to the question at hand: do you need more than the basics? A drill will drill holes (imagine that), drive fasteners, and can even be used with a wire brush for light polishing or cleaning applications. A circular saw will make quick linear cuts in dimensional lumber and plywood, a reciprocating saw may be used to cut everything from wood to metal with the right blades, and an impact driver will make short work of driving fasteners in even the toughest of materials and without transferring torque to the user’s hands and wrists. Just about every major tool brand offers these basics, but if you feel the need to own all four of these tools in the cordless format, ensure that you do your homework before committing to any given battery platform. Besides convenience, corded saws may be the better choice for many people anyway, with driving tools and a couple of batteries sufficing for general projects. - Source: Internet

Homeowner brands are exemplified by the likes of Black and Decker and Ryobi; DIY/prosumer brands include Ridgid, Porter Cable (PC), and Kobalt; professional brands are represented by DeWalt, Bosch, Makita, and Milwaukee; and Festool is a prime example of a premium brand. Premium tool brands will be mentioned only in passing, due to their cost and lack of widespread availability in most areas. - Source: Internet

You end up tossing away perfectly good power tools, simply because you can no longer buy the batteries. - Source: Internet
